Kwale,KENYA:Kwale county politics has taken a new twist after the Kwale senator Issa  boy and Kinango MP Benjamin Tayari expressed interest in seeking the gubernatorial seat in 2022.

While speaking  on Friday, the two leaders said they would agree on who between the two would go for the top job.

‘’They will politic in Kinango,Lungalunga,Matuga and Msambweni but as for me I have already expressed my interest in the seat’’ Senator Issa boy said.

Their remarks came just a few days after the governor Salim Mvurya expressed his support for his deputy Fatma Achani succeeding him.

“Some people are saying Mvurya should keep quiet but I will not. I have prepared my Deputy Fatuma Achani very well to take over. If anybody has prepared their candidates too, let them come forward and tell us.”

“I have revealed my preferred choice and so, bring yours forward also, so that citizens can choose, don’t blame me for identifying my choice,” Mvurya was quoted saying at a function in Msambweni earlier in the week.

An announcement which was not well received by a section of MCA’s in the county including   his closest supporter  Antony Yema who is the MCA of Kasemeni ward in Kinango constituency.

This comes at a time when a hot  2022 succession debate is ongoing on social media platforms in Kwale county with the debates seeming to have taken a tribal dimension.

However the Kwale governor when responding to Issa and Benjamin Tayari  seemed to have  taken back  Achani’s endorsement  saying he would soon announce who he would like to take over him 2022.
