Kisumu, KENYA: A first half strike from Ivorian Ephrem Guikan is all that Gor Mahia needed to edge Sony Sugar 1-0 in a Kenyan Premier League match played at Moi stadium Kisumu on Wednesday.

Sony had their goalkeeper Kevin Omondi to thank after he produced a string of spectacular saves to keep at bay Gor Mahia forwards from extending the score-line despite dominating the proceedings throughout the match.

The defeat leaves the Millers dangling at the bottom of the 18-team Kenyan Premier League table standings with paltry 14 points after 17.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia who have three matches in hand extended their lead to 34 points, six better than second placed Ulinzu Stars who lost 2-1 to Sofapaka last weekend.
