NYS Director general Richard Ndubai arrested over sh 9bn scandal

Nairobi, KENYA: National Youth Service Director general Richard Ndubai has been arrested following the ongoing probe on the loss of Sh9 billion from the agency.

Ndubai is among four other senior officials who were on Sunday night arrested and detained at Muthaiga Police station.

The other officials are; assistant director general Sam Michuki, finance manager – a Mr Mbugua, and a fourth official whose name is yet to be established.

The suspects are set to appear at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road on Monday for further interrogation.

The office of the Department of Public Prosecution through it’s Twitter handle on Monday said that it has reviewed all the inquiries files related to the ongoing NYS Investigations and called for the prosecution of the suspects.

“The DPP has independently reviewed all the Inquiries Files related to the ongoing Investigations at #NYS and has directed prosecution commences immediately against all the named suspects cc @DCI_Kenya ” Read the Tweet.

Already,  Principal Secretary, Public Service and Youth Lillian Mbogo Omollo is reported to have surrendered accompanied by her lawyers. More suspects are expected to be arrested throughout the week
