Nairobi, KENYA: Kenyan Premier League reigning champions Gor Mahia extended their lead at the summit despite being held to a two-all draw by Chemelil Sugar in a midweek fixture staged at Moi stadium, Kisumu on Wednesday.

K’ogalo were in full control of the tie until when goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch was sent off for a bookable offence with Chemelil capitalizing on their numeric advantage to come from two goals down to salvage a point.

However, The draw meant less to Gor Mahia who remains at the top of the table standings having amassed 26 points, three points better than second-placed Mathare United who has played two games more.

Elsewhere, AFC Leopards needed a last-minute penalty to earn a 1-1 draw with Kariobangi Sharks as Bandari FC moved to third in the standings despite a 2-2 stalemate at home to Zoo FC.

Other day’s results saw Robert Matano start life at Tusker on a positive note after he guided the Brewers to pick maximum points with a narrow 1-0 win over Wazito FC.

Matano returned to the 11-time Kenyan Premier League champions earlier this week taking over from Ugandan tactician Sam Timbe who was shown the door following a slow start to the season by the club.
