Nairobi, KENYA: Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is set to conduct the 26th repeat of Presidential elections warning of any form of police brutality.
In a media briefing in Nairobi IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati said that the commission will go ahead to conduct polls as directed by Supreme court.
Chebukati said that following the assurance from various agencies that all is well the commission will go ahead and conduct elections as scheduled.
However,chebukati warned any form of police brutality against Kenyans urging the service to protect all Kenyans especially voters and demonstrators who will be exercising their democratic right.
“Police officers have been harassing innocent Kenyans exercising their rights including peaceful and lawful demonstrations,” Chebukati said.
He reiterated that the commission might opt to postpone elections in areas which might be risky especially to the IEBC officials and voters who will be yearning to vote.
