Mombasa, KENYA: A Mombasa Member of County Assembly was on Monday charged for allegedly inciting voters not to participate in 26th October polls.
Ibrahim Oyugi Omondi alias Bomoa an MCA of airport ward was arrested on Friday morning and detained at Port police following remarks made during a media briefing on Thursday.
The accused allegedly uttered the following words “Mombasa we have decided we are not going to have an election on 26th October and we are going to do everything to prevent an election.”
He denied the charges before Mombasa principle magistrate Francis Kyimbia.
Mr.Kyiambia ordered the accused person released on a surety bond of sh.200,000
The case is set for hearing on 17 November 2017.
