Five charged over death of St.Augustine pupil

Mombasa,KENYA: Five people were on Wednesday charged at  Mombasa high court for allegedly causing the death of a pupil.

Kesi Sara,Venant Mwaliko,Vald Mbadi,Abednego Fundi and Charo Kazungu allegedly  caused the death of  Jeremy Masila  a pupil at the St Augustine school in Mombasa on the 21st July 2017.

Jeremy a 4 year child died mysteriously after he fell from the the school bus going to school.

The suspects charged include the head teacher of the school,school bursar,driver and his assistant.

Initially, the suspects had moved to court to challenge the Director of Public Prosecutions  from instituting murder charges against them.

But Lady Justice Dora Chepkwony dismissed application citing the DPP had constitutional mandate to institute charges.

Mr.Keriako Tobiko had also instructed senior deputy prosecutor Alexandar Muteti to choose a prosecutor who will assist in the investigation of the murder.

Court will rule on whether the accused persons will be released on bond or not.
