Nairobi,KENYA:National Super Alliance leaders have vowed not participate in the upcoming presidential elections if their concerns leveled against IEBC are not met.
In a media briefing after the parliamentary group meeting led by Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka ,Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula said that the meeting resolved that there will be no elections until their conditions against elections malpractice in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ,IEBC are actualized.
“There will no elections on the 17th of October ,2017 if our concerns that are in the document are not addressed ,remember there is a difference between election boycott and having no elections.”Wetangula said
“We are not talking of election boycott ,we are talking of election that has not met the standards that are norm of any democratic elections.”He added
Wetangula said that through the NASA legal team ,they will initiate private prosecution against IEBC officials whom they feel messed the August 8th polls.
The coalition accused the director of public prosecution for failing to initiate charges against IEBC officials’ misconduct during the past polls.
On parliamentary matters ,Wetangula said that NASA legislators will continue with their parliamentary boycott indicating that the legislators will not attend any parliamentary proceedings including house committees terming proceedings of the legislature as an illegality..
“Our MP’s will not party to any parliamentary proceedings or house committees because the houses as currently constituted are devoid to any legality and we will treat them as jubilee parliamentary groupings”Wetangula said
Meanwhile the Amani National congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi dispelled rumors in social media that he has left the coalition.
“There are some desperate people in social media who have nothing to do but to try to persuade fake news .”Mudavadi said.
He termed such information as baseless indicating that the coalition is intact.
“NASA is intact ,NASA is firm determined to ensure the change the people of Kenya desired ,shall be realized.”He said.
