Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Likoni, Mombasa county have warned parents that they have only themselves to blame if their children who belong to the criminal gangs in the area go missing.
Police bosses on Thursday warned the parents and guardians of the gang members that they were issuing the final warning.
New likoni police chief Benjamin Rotich said the government will not sit back and watch investors leave the sub-county because of few individuals who have decided to terrorize the residents in the area.
He spoke at Likoni social hall in Likoni after receiving 100 members of MRC who quit Mombasa republica council membership.
“We have two to three criminal gangs here: Wajuku wa bibi and Watallia, dear parents we don’t want this children to disappear in our hands, you as parents start counseling them as it wont be business as usual,” warned the police boss.
He said most of the parents have neglected their parental roles, leaving young children to join criminal gangs instead of being in school.
Police boss further issued a stern warning to new elected leaders to keep off police stations; adding that they are the ones who pay bonds for youth arrested to be freed.
He said they will be arrested too and locked up with the suspects too.
