SRC slashes full time constitutional commissioner’s wages

Nairobi,KENYA:The salaries and remuneration commission has slashed salaries for commissioners in several constitutional commissions  it its quest to cut public wages.

According to gazette notice gazetted by the wage body on Friday, commissioners in the Judicial Service Commission, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Teachers Service Commission ,National Police Service Commission, Public Service Sommission, Kenya National Human Rights Commission and the Commission on Revenue Allocation have been affected by the latest cut.

The commissioners who were taking home a salary of  sh 650,000 a month will now take home a salary of  sh 621,250  a 4.4% wage cut.

However, the chairperson and vice chairperson  of the IEBC’s salaries remains unaffected by the latest pay cut.

The registrar of political parties who was taking home a salary of sh 650,000 has also been affected by the latest cut after his salary was reduced to sh 621,250.

The latest cut comes just a month after the salaries commission issued another pay-cut that targeted elected leaders.
