Court summons five St. Augustine employees over school bus tragedy

Mombasa, KENYA:  A Mombasa high court has summoned five employees of St. Augustine preparatory School over the death of a Nursery pupil.

Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony on Monday directed the regional CID coordinator to serve Ms Serah Kessi ,Venant Mwasaru,Vald Mbandi, Abednego Mwendwa and Charo Kazungu summons to appear in court on Wednesday to face murder charges.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions had earlier ordered the arrest of Ms Serah Kessi through Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Alexander Muteti.

Muteti told the court that Mr. Eugene Wagila and Ngina Mutua will help the investigation team to gather all the evidence regarding the death of six-year-old Jeremy Masila.

Masila was on Friday morning run over by the back wheels of the bus when he fell down through an opening on the floor of the bus.

Mr. Tobiko ordered the headteacher,bus driver,bursar and assistant driver arrested and charged.

Muteti however the informed court that despite DPP issuing directive to have suspects arrested, police have not yet complied.

Justice Chepkwony ordered the five suspects to be charged on Wednesday.
