Nairobi,KENYA:Lamu governor Issa Timammy has said that the county manpower has been affected by the reluctance of Kenyans from other counties to work in Lamu county due to fears of insecurity.
Speaking when he appeared before the senate parliamentary accounts and investment committee chaired by Prof Anyang Nyongo on Tuesday,Timamy said that the county has been having problems of hiring staff due to the stigma associated with the insecurity in the county.
He said the challenge has been affecting the execution of some duties especially in the accounts department leading to discrepancies and omissions in the 2014 audit files.
The committee also raised concerns over a sh 65 million bank account which was dormant and the county government did not do any disclosure on the account.
