Nairobi,KENYA:Lamu governor Issa Timammy has said that the county manpower has been  affected by the reluctance of   Kenyans from other counties to work in Lamu county due to fears of insecurity.

Speaking when he appeared before the senate parliamentary accounts and investment committee chaired by Prof Anyang Nyongo  on Tuesday,Timamy said that the county has been having problems of hiring staff due to the stigma associated with  the insecurity in the county.

He said the challenge has been affecting  the  execution of some duties especially in the  accounts department leading to discrepancies and omissions in the 2014 audit files.

The committee also raised concerns over  a sh 65 million bank account which was dormant and the county government did not do any  disclosure on the account.
