Mombasa, KENYA: Two Tanzanian residents narrowly escaped death when their transit lorry plunged into Indian ocean waters in Mombasa in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
The two drivers and his turn boy had crossed the Likoni ferry channel from Mombasa heading to Tanzania, when the 40 feet lorry with a container reversed and plunged into the ocean.
According to one of the security guards at the channel, the two jumped off the lorry as it reversed and plunged into the ocean in the 3 am incident.
He further said the incident happened because the container was too heavy to climb the hill.
The lorry bearing a Tanzanian registration number is said to have been ferrying goods from Mombasa to Tanzania.
