95 children rescued in suspected terror cell in Likoni

Mombasa,KENYA:At least 95 youths have been rescued in Likoni after police raided Ul-madrasatul mosque.

The crackdown follows intelligence reports that the youths who have been converging at mosque were  undergoing radicalization teachings.

Anti terrorism police storm the said mosque at around six in the morning when the youth were attending the morning prayers.

Four preachers were also detained by detectives in the operation.

Police sources in the area said they were not involved in the operations and were not aware of the incident.

Coast police boss Larry Kyeng confirmed the operation but decline to give further information.

The said madrassa has boarding and day school and hosts children from different countries.

“We are investigating on some issues, we will give more information later,” said police boss.

The children were taken to regional police headquarters where parents of the children were profiled.
Several parents were lined up at regional police headquarters for interrogation.

The children , some as young as  10 were not even aware why they were at the police headquarters where they were being detained.
