Las Vegas, USA: Kenya’s Rugby Sevens team Shujaa won the Las Vegas Challenge Trophy by coasting past Samoa 24-14 in the finals played on Monday morning in USA.

All-time leading try scorer Collins Injera touched down with Sammy Oliech, converting to give Shujaa a 7-0 first half lead, before Andrew Amonde bagged a brace after the restart to seal the victory.

Kenya dropped to the Challenge Trophy after finishing third in Group C where they lost 24-7 to New Zealand before drawing with Argentina 14-14 and later tamed Russia 12-10.

They would then beat Chile 21-19 followed by a 14-7 success over France in the Challenge semis to book a date with Samoa whom they overcame in the finals.

The Innocent Simiyu coached side now diverts its focus to the sixth leg of the series slated for Vancouver Canada next weekend where it has been pooled against bigwigs England and South Africa in group A.
