Kwale, KENYA: A 62-year-old man met his death on Sunday after being hacked by a gang of unidentified criminals.
The incident took place during the wee hours of Sunday morning in Gandini location in Kinango, Kwale county.
According to the area Chief Umazi Mwangolo, the deceased Mr. Begari Mongolo was tortured and cut with a sharp object.
“We are shocked to witness such a heartless killing. What we understand is that he was killed using a panga, but we are waiting for a medical report as investigations are ongoing,” she said.
The area chief added that the deceased had attended a relative’s ceremony when he met the cruel gang but he is from Dzivani village in the same location.
Chief Mwangolo said the motive of the murder is still unclear as she condemned and warned residents against such inhuman actions.
Kinango OCPD Mr. Fredrick Lai said a contingent of police officers had been dispatched to the area and was pursuing useful leads that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
The body was taken to Kinango hospital mortuary as it waits for a postmortem.
