Man charged in Mombasa court for shoplifting chewing gum at Naivas supermarket

A man has been charged in a Mombasa court for shoplifting goods worth Ksh 3,315 at Naivas -Likoni.

Stephen Muthuku is alleged to have stolen P.K and Juicy fruit chewing gums, Gauniev vitamin doom liquid and electrical LED belonging to Naivas shopping mall.

Muthuku is accused of committing the offence on 20th February 2024 at their Ferry area stores.

However, appearing before Mombasa senior magistrate Rita Orora, the accused denied the offence.

Orora ordered the accused be taken for medical check-up after complaining of pain inflicted on him by police officers who  accused of slapping him severally of the cheeks.

The courts released him on a ten thousand shillings bail, pending mention of his case on 14th March.
