The Mombasa County Government of Mombasa will pay part of the school fees for all secondary school day scholars.

Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir says through the “No Child Left Behind Program’, the county government will pay sh.5,000 for all secondary school day scholars.

“I have noted with concern the demand for school bursaries which is impacting our population due to tough economic times,” said Governor Swamad.

The County Chief spoke after a meeting with headteachers from all the public and private day secondary schools led by their Chairperson Peter Watoro.

“Each parent will have a child’s secondary school fee paid for sh.5,000 by the county government of Mombasa for an anticipated 40,000 students,” said the Governor.

“We intend to pay sh.200 million for this program that will start immediately,” he added.

He said those learning in different counties will also continue receiving bursaries.

The ‘No Child Left Behind Program’ comes just in time before form ones join secondary schools from Monday.
