Traffic is again flowing along the Kilifi-Mombasa highway after the repair of Mbogolo bridge.
A section of the bridge had been swept off by flood waters on Friday, following heavy rains that pounded the area.
Hundreds of commuters using the route were stranded soon as the section was swept away.
Videos circulating on facebook showed commuters stuck on both sides of the road as the tarmac on the road was cut in half.
However, on Sunday, Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) released a statement via its Facebook account advising motorists to resume using the route.
A new bridge to replace the old Mbogolo bridge is near completion.
