Kenya Rugby Sevens team Shujaas have pocketed a three million shillings prize from President William Ruto following their back to back qualification for the Olympics.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba presented the three million on Tuesday when he hosted the rugby squad in Nairobi.

According to the CS, the players will receive sh.200,000 each while the coaching staff will get sh.100,000 as a token after the qualification of the 2024 Paris Olympic.

The Kenya sevens squad consists of 24 players and six officers.

Shujaas went on unbeaten run for the Olympic qualifiers beating Nigeria 34-10 and a comfortable win of 50-0 against Namibia in group stages.

The winning streak continued when they won 38-12 against Zambia before smashing Burkina Faso 26-10 in the semi final.

The remaining task was to beat African giants South Africa to get the ticket whereby, a score of 17-12 was enough for Shujaas to grab the ticket for the third time in a row.
