Mombasa man remanded for 30 days for beating 4-yr-old daughter

Mombasa High Court has remanded a father for 30 days for beating his daughter.

Khamisi Kunena is alleged to have beaten and caused grievous harm to his 4-year-old daughter on 30^th August 2023 in Likoni, Mombasa county.

Appearing before Magistrate Martha Mutuku he pleaded not guilty of the offense.

“HAMISI KUNENA: On the 30^th day of August 2023 at about 1930hrs at Bububu area, Mtongwe location in Likoni sub-county within Mombasa County, you unlawfully did grievous harm to Fatuma Hamisi Kunena,” read the charge sheet.

However, the Magistrate ordered him to be remanded for 30 days, awaiting a report from the children’s protection office.

The fate of the accused person on whether he will be released on bond will be determined upon hearing the case on 11^th October 2023.
