American pop star Madonna has been taken to the intensive care unit (ICU).
According to international media outlets, Madonna was taken to an ICU believed to be in New York, USA with a serious bacterial infection.
“The infection was serious, she is improving and a full recovery is expected,” said her manager, Guy Oseary.
The manager pointed out that the pop star is still under medical care adding that her condition has prompted the postponement of a series of performances across the globe.
The 64-year-old musical icon was anticipating celebrating the 40th anniversary of her breakout single, Holiday, by embarking on her first-ever greatest hits tour.
The tour was due to start in Vancouver, Canada, on 15th July and end on 30th January in Mexico City.
UK and Europe are also captured in a portion of her tour on 14th October, scheduled to begin and end at London’s O2 Arena.
