NYS nationwide recruitment exercise, here is the Mombasa schedule

The National Youth Service (NYS) will be carrying out a countrywide recruitment exercise next week from Monday 15th to Friday 19th May.

In Mombasa, the exercise will kick off on the 15th at 8 am in Jomvu sub-county at Amani Primary School.

The second day of the exercise will take place on the 16th at the Oil Refinery Grounds in Jomvu sub-county.

On the 17th, the recruitment exercise will take place at Mvita Sports Grounds followed by Khadija Primary School in Kisauni sub-county on the 18th.

The last day of the exercise will see the recruitment take place at Dongo Kundu in Likoni and Mkomani Show Grounds in Nyali sub-county.

Prospective candidates wishing to be enlisted must be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 24 years.

They should also be a resident of the respective sub-county of recruitment and have attained a mean grade of D plain and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

Requirements by the NYS also indicate that the candidate must produce original National Identity Card (ID), and Academic Certificates (and avail one set of photocopies of the same at the recruitment center).

The candidate should also be ready to undergo medical check-ups during and after the recruitment exercise.

They should also be ready to undergo six months of compulsory paramilitary training.

“Successful candidates must produce a certificate of Good Conduct on reporting for the NYS Paramilitary Academy, Gilgil or Naivasha on dates and times specified in respective calling letters to be issued,” read the recruitment notice from NYS.

Orphans who meet the above requirements will be given special reference to production of sufficient documentary proof such as parents’ death certificates or burial permits.

People living with disability are also encouraged to avail themselves for the recruitment exercise in their respective sub-counties.

“We expect all candidates to be examined and issued with medical certificates indicating their fitness to undertake the rigorous paramilitary training. You are therefore requested to liaise with the County Medical Officers to nominate health personnel who will examine the candidates during the recruitment exercise,” read the NYS notice addressed to the county.
