Kilifi County sports department has ended the exercise of selecting the squad of football and volleyball players who will represent the county at the 8th Kenya Youth Inter-county Association [KYISA] games.

The players aged 18-23 were selected from all the seven sub-counties and will be representing the county at the games held in Tharaka Nithi County from the 23rd to the 30th of April, 2023.

Magarini was the last to recruit players where a total of 18 players were selected on Sunday 26th in an exercise that was witnessed by heavy rains in the area.

Kilifi County Chief Sports Officer Naftali Owino led the activity with Marafa Ward Representative Emmanuel Karisa Baya, who called on the selected players to be more disciplined when performing their duties.

On Saturday 25th, three players from Malindi sub-county were pulled out of the squad due to lack of Identity Cards.

All selected players from the seven constituencies will camp together for trials where another final selection squad is expected to be named on 1st April.

Preparations are now set for the training camp as the recruited players will fight for the numbers to make the final squad traveling to Tharaka Nithi for the games.
