South Coast Pirates sink Impala to reach KRU play-off

South Coast Pirates have reached the Kenya Cup playoffs by beating Impala 20-17 in a Championship match played at Sea Crest Ground in Diani on Saturday.

It was a must-win game for the Ukunda-based side Rugby team to stamp their qualification having failed to win against leaders Nondescripts the previous weekend at the same venue.

Pirates are now placed fourth in the KRU Championship table with 34 points after 10 matches, six points above fifth-placed Kabarak while Impala has dropped to sixth place with 26 points.

Pirates will conclude their regular season against second-placed Daystar University Falcons next week.

Elsewhere, league leaders, Nondescripts smashed Zitech Oaks 54-20 to keep their unbeaten run alive while Daystar Falcons won against Shamas 44-27.

Western Bulls lost at home 19-23 in the hands of USIU Martials, Kisumu had a convincing win of 44-5 against Eldoret as Kabarak University won 29-10 at home beating Eldoret Trojans.
