Kenyan Lawmakers have been urged to advocate for tax exemption for Condom commodities in the country.
Speaking on Saturday during HIV programmes orientation for the county assembly health committee members ,AIDS Healthcare Foundation Taita Taveta County Branch liason officer Shedrack Chumba said the move will allow partners avail free Condom and scale up access and reduction in HIV transmission.

On his part USAID Stawisha Pwani Deputy Chief of Party Dr. Philiph Masaulo wants counties to plan how wean themselves from donor dependency.

He urged Members of County Assemblies (MCAs)to champion for prioritization of health financing and formulation of policies particularly in preventive and promotive health programme

“Counties should appropriately plan for transition from donor dependency in order to avoid reversal of health gains recorded as a result of strategic partnership with development partners”, he said.

Multi-sectoral approach has played a key role in accelerating sustainable control of HIV epidemic through offering effective prevention interventions, testing services, diagnosis, treatment and quality healthcar

Taita Taveta County Health CECM Gifton Mkaya has acknowledged the strategic collaboration as the main engine driving healthcare systems in the Counties.
