Man sets himself and two-year-old daughter on fire

NAIROBI: Police in Embakasi, Nairobi County, are investigating a case where a man is said to have set himself and his daughter on fire.

“It was reported by one Robert, that a person had set himself on fire in a motor vehicle at Nasra estate. Police officers from Soweto police station visited the scene and found the body of one Denis Musyoka ,34 yrs in a motor vehicle, a Honda Vezel and black in colour having been burnt partly,” read an incident report from Soweto police station.

Musyoka is said to have contacted his ex-wife, identified as Elizabeth in the report, to bring him his daughter for a bonding session.

“The lady arrived in her motor vehicle named above. The deceased then entered her vehicle carrying a bag,” read the report.

Musyoka is said to have attacked his ex-wife with a knife that he had in the bag, stabbing her four times on the left side of her neck.

Elizabeth managed to escape, leaving the daughter with Musyoka in the car.

He then set himself on fire with the two and half years old daughter still in the car.

“The scene was documented and processed by the scenes of crime personnel. A knife and a partly burnt five litre jerican suspected to have contained petrol were recovered at the scene,” read the report.

The victims were rushed to Mama Lucy hospital where the lady is admitted in stable condition and the child has been referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized treatment in critical condition.

“The body of the deceased has been moved to Mama Lucy hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy,” read the report.
