Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has claimed the port of Mombasa benefits private individuals.
Speaking in Mombasa, Ali claimed that politicians linked to Azimio- One Kenya Alliance are major beneficiaries of the port at the expense of locals.
He said he has evidence to back his claims that president Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, Dubai port and Mombasa Governor benefit from the port.
“Coast people should know that they no longer own the port. Its gone.”, he stated.
Coast leaders have been trading barbs against each other over the transfer of port operations to Naivasha, a move that stakeholders said denied Mombasa its fair share of revenue and jobs.
In 2017 prior to the national polls, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho raised alarm over plans to transfer Mombasa port operations with a majority of Mps from the region evading the issue.
Ali also tabled in parliament a censure motion in 2020 to impeach Transport CS James Macharia over port operations.
