Kilifi North Mp Owen Baya has rubbished coalition talks between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila odinga ahead of 2022 general elections.

Speaking in Kilifi, Baya says both Uhuru and ODM will be irrelevant in the national politics in 2022.

He further said Odinga is making a mistake by entering into a coalition with president Uhuru whom he describes as a spent force in Kenya’s politics.

“Uhuru is not vying in 2022 so his backing of Odinga is utterly inconsequential. The coalition is doomed to fail,”. He said.

Baya also said he has shifted his allegiance form ODM to UDA party.

“ Iam just an ODM member by law, but my heart and spirit are in UDA because ODM no longer represents the interests of our people”, Said Baya.

He says UDA which is associated with deputy president William Ruto, has become popular in Coast region, specifically Kilifi County.

“I see the future of this nation in UDA. Even Tufe( proposed Coast region party) is going nowhere here in Kilifi and we shall ensure it dies”, said Baya.

Baya also urged coast region leaders to unite in order to benefit from the incoming government.

“I want to be Ruto’s DP. That will be possible if only we ensure that leaders from Coast unite. We will be key stakeholders if we remain a strong united region”, he added.
