 16 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hrs.

Meanwhile Kenya on Friday recorded 488 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 174,773, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

Kagwe said the numbers was from a sample size of 5,831 recording a positivity rate of 8.4 per cent.

Kagwe said that 4,827 patients are on the home-based care program.

A total of 162 patients are in ICU, out of which 30 are on ventilator support, according to Kagwe.

In a statement, the CS said 106 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 101 are in general wards and five in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 343 patients have recovered from the disease.
