COVID-19 patients admitted at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital have gotten relief after the hospital received 10,000 litres of liquid Oxygen donation from Mombasa Cement Factory.
Speaking at the hospital, Mombasa Health CEC Hazel Koitaba said the oxygen will supplement the County reserves needed for critical care of COVID-19 patients at the facility.
The CEC hailed Mombasa Cement for the donation and their continued support in county health programs.
The hospital uses around 4,000 litres of oxygen, costing sh.600,000, every three days in treatment of those with severe cases of COVID-19 and patients in critical condition.
According to experts at the World Health Organization,it has been estimated that around one in five people with COVID-19 suffers respiratory distress sufficient to require oxygen therapy.
