Learning at Star of the Sea and Tononoka High Schools in Mombasa has been suspended after 15 teachers tested positive for COVID-19.
This comes just one week after schools re-opened to resume learning for grade 4, class 8 and form four learners.
The closure of the two schools in Mombasa County was announced by the County Commissioner. Teachers started showing symptoms last week and went for private screening. They turned out positive.
Four of the teachers who tested positive were form Star of the Sea High School while the remaining 11 from Tononoka High School.
A letter dated 19th October from Star of the Sea principal, Mrs. A. Mulinge, to parents said that the school will stay closed till 2nd November.
“This is to inform you that all school operations have been temporarily suspended with effect from today, Monday, 19th October, 2020 to allow fumigation,” said the Principal.
