Mombasa registers 14 new COVID-19 cases as five more succumb to virus

Mombasa County has registered 14 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Mombasa is the only county in Coast region which registered new virus infection

Speaking during COVID-19 briefing, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi announced that the country registered 141 new cases from 3037 samples tested.

The number of infections in the country has risen to 37,489.

Other counties that registered new COVID-19 cases are Nakuru 24, Nairobi 14, Migori eight, Turkana five, Bungoma two. Murang’a, Busia, Nyeri and Vihiga had one case each.

Five more people also succumbed to the virus bringing fatality rate to 669.

Mwangangi also announced that 81 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, among them 69 were discharged from various hospitals and 12 were under home based health care.

Out of the new infection 103 were male and 38 female.
