504 recover, 8 die as Kenya records 245 new cases of COVID-19

The number of COVID-19 new recoveries doubled the number of new cases in the country as 504 patients were discharged after recovering from the disease.

While giving the update on the status of COVID-19 in the country, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr Rashid Aman said the new recoveries now push total recoveries to 17,160.

The 245 new cases were from 3,150 samples tested in the last 24 hours raising the national infections to 30,365. Out of the new infections, 237 were Kenyans while 8 were foreigners.

“We have lost 8 patients have succumbed to the disease . 5 had underlying conditions. The total number of fatalities now stands at 482,” said the CAS.

CAS Rashid urged Kenyans to be extra careful in adherence to measures put in place to curb the spread of the disease.

“Over 29,000 cases in Kenya are communally spread which is equivalent to 98 percent of all cases,” he said.
