The late Keroche breweries heiress Tecra Muigai’s Lamu boyfriend Omar Lali will be charged with ‘felony of murder’, a Lamu court ruled on Monday.
Making the ruling, magistrate Allan Temba gave Homicide detectives 24 hours to present Lali to the High Court in Garsen to have him take the murder plea.
According to legal doctrines, ‘felony of murder’ allows a person to be charged with a murder that occurred when he was committing another felony.
Lamu magistrate court had earlier released the suspect on a surety bail of sh. 300,000 after the expiry of 21 days that police had requested to detain Lali for further questionings
Tera, who died on May 3, 2020, was laid to rest on May 16, 2020, in a private ceremony at the family’s home in Naivasha.

The lastborn daughter of Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja is reported to have lost a lot of blood before she was rushed to by Shella Dispensary and later to the King Fahad Hospital.
After about 11 hours of unsuccessfully seeking treatment in Lamu, Lali is said to have contacted her mother who chartered an Amref helicopter that flew her to a Nairobi hospital where she died.
An autopsy conducted by chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed that Tecra succumbed to injuries sustained on the left side of her head.
