Coronavirus claims five more lives

Five more people have died of Coronavirus as more cases were being recorded in Mombasa, Kilifi, and Taita Taveta counties.

The Ministry of Health on Friday confirmed that the five patients succumbed to the disease overnight.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman said that Mombasa recorded 20 cases, Taita Taveta three and Kilifi one.

In Mombasa County, Mvita recorded 9 cases, Nyali six, Changamwe  three, Kisauni and Jomvu one

He said that the total number of positive cases stood at 149 taking the total number of infections to 5,533.

“Five more patients succumbed to the disease as well, hence the tally of fatalities rose to 137,” Aman said

Aman said that the 149 more positive cases of the coronavirus were recorded from 3,090 samples.

Dr. Aman said the new cases include 148 Kenyans and one foreign national, composed of 94 males and 55 females aged between one and 76 years.

The new infections as per county include; Nairobi (73),  Kajiado (15), Siaya (13), Machakos (3),  Nakuru (1), Nandi (1), Bungoma (1), Isiolo (1).

 48 patients were also discharged from various health centers in the country, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,905.
