A somber mood has engulfed Fundi Hamisi village in Malindi sub-county after a six-year-old boy committed suicide.

According to the Ganda location chief Omar Mazoa, the young boy committed suicide by hanging himself.

“ Neighbors heard his siblings screaming and when they went to find out what was happening, they found he had already committed suicide,” Omar said.

The chief added that the young boy had been left to look after his siblings by his mother who had gone to look for casual work.

“ The boy’s mother is a single parent who had gone to look for casual work” Mazoa added.

Though a suicide note has not been left behind by the deceased boy,Mazoa urged parents and guardians to ensure they monitor their children for any signs of stress and depression.

Last year, a nine-year-old boy committed suicide in Nyandarua county following a tiff with his elder brother.
