Mombasa numbers up by 24 as country records 123 new COVID-19 infections

Mombasa County has recorded 24 new cases of Coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the country recorded 123 new COVID-19 infections, 24 of them being from Mombasa.

“In Mombasa, the cases are in; Mvita 9,Changamwe 4, Kisauni 4, Jomvu and Likoni 3 and 1 in Nyali,” Said Mutahi.

The CS who was giving the daily COVID-19 status update also noted the country recorded the highest number of positive cases ever since the country reported the first case.

The high number of new cases correlated with the high number of samples (at 3,077) tested in a single day.

Nairobi County once again leading with a total infected of 85 people, Kiambu 4, Kajiado 3, Kisumu 2 and Garissa, Kitui, Kilifi, Busia and Uasin Gishu with one case each.

According to age distribution, the youngest of the new cases is 1 year old,while the oldest is 76 years old.

“On the sad note,the country has recorded 3 more deaths bringing the number of fatalities to 55,” said CS Kagwe.

Current COVID-19 infections national stand at 1,471 from a total 67,341 samples tested since the first case was reported.
