Alarm as Kwale’s COVID-19 cases double within two days

The number of COVID -19 cases in Kwale has doubled over the past two days.

Five cases were detected in the county on Friday bringing the total number of infections recorded in the county to 18.

On Thursday, six more cases were recorded in Kwale’s Msambweni Sub-county.

In a press conference in Machakos health cabinet secretary, Mutahi Kagwe said that the five people who tested positive in Kwale county are from the Msambweni area.

“In Mombasa county the total number of people who tested positive stands at seven and distributed as follows: Jomvu (4), Mvita (2), and Nyali (1)” Kagwe said.

The total number of people who tested positive across the country on Friday is 52 rising the national infection tally to 1161.

The new cases are from 2567 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Kenya has so far tested 55,074 people since the virus was first reported in the country.

“Five  people have been discharged from various hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 380,” Kagwe said.

The cases are distributed across other counties as follows: Nairobi (23),  Busia (7), Kajiado (4), Kiambu (1) and Transzoia (1).

In Nairobi, the cases in  Estates are  as follows: Kibra (8), Langata (3), Kamukunji (2),Embakasi West (1), Kasarani (1), Starehe (1) and Roysambu (1). Dagoretti North (2), Embakasi East (2), Embakasi South (1) among others.
