Chinese nationals filmed caning Kenyan employee to be deported

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has ordered the deportation of four Chinese nationals who were arrested on Sunday on assault claims.

The four were arrested on Sunday morning after a video of one of them caning a Kenyan waiter for allegedly reporting to work late went viral in sections of the press and social media.

The four who had been arraigned in court on Monday were to be remanded for three days then presented to court again on Thursday.

The court on Thursday sent them in remand for 15 more days to allow police investigations.

The four worked at Chez Wou Chinese restaurant in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area.

Three of them were operating without work permits while two had expired visas.
