EACC raid Governor Waititu’s homes

Nairobi, KENYA: Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives on Thursday morning raided Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s homes in Runda and Garden estate in Nairobi.

The detectives who are investigating alleged corruption in Kiambu County raided the homes of the governor minutes after 5am searching for documents relating to contracts issued by Waititu’s administration.

The County has been in the spotlight for different reasons including alleged corruption in a number of programs, including Kaa Sober, which was aimed at rehabilitating alcoholics.

The Kiambu Governor, who’s facing allegations of procurement irregularities and unexplained expenditure, made it to the headlines, while appearing before Senate, after it emerged that in the last financial year, the county allocated funds in the budget for peace keeping in South Sudan, State House visit, free primary education among other things.
