Shimanzi striker helps Chapa Dimba Allstars edge Spanish team

A striker from the Shimanzi youth Football club is one of the players who helped the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom  all stars win against Spanish side Sant Gabriel.

Benjamin Njenga of Shimanzi Youth Mvita constituency and Lual Mengistu of Euronuts football team in Kabete Constituency  found the target each as the All-Stars came from a goal behind to edge out the home team Sant Gabriel 2- 1.

However, their girls’ counterparts were not lucky as they went down 2-0 to a tactical Sant Gabriel girls at the same venue in a late kick-off.

“We’ve played a good game today. Our midfield was in control and we really had good ball possession. We have gelled together as a team and the trainings are not in vain. We were able to score goals based on the skills we have been learning from our coaches and that is what really count for us,” said Enock Wanyama, an All-Star player from South B United.

The boys showed an improved performance compared to their opening friendly. The team put to practice what they were taught in training by possessing the ball, building from the back to see them dominate the midfield.

The All-Stars boys and girls had gone through a-2 hour training in the morning of the match-day with their La Liga coaches taking them through ball passing, agility and opening up space before heading to their hotel for a 6 hour rest.

The win for the boys meant that they picked their first victory in Spain after losing 5-3 to Reus Deportiu in their opening friendly match played at their training venue, Futbol Salou in Cambrils.

The team comprising of 32, will have a rest day in their seventh day in training before embarking on training on Wednesday.
