French President Emmanuel Macron is in Kenya for a two-day state visit.

Macron arrived in the country on Wednesday afternoon and proceeded to State House where he was honoured with a gun salute and also inspected the guard of honour.

With the French President in the country, Kenyans who know more than the words ‘bonjour’, ‘croissant’ and ‘oui’ took to social media to welcome Macron in French and President Uhuru Kenyatta was not left behind.

Through his twitter handle, President Kenyatta welcomed his France counterpart to the country.

Which in English simply says ‘I am delighted to host my friend H.E. President Emmanuel Macron of France at State House, Nairobi in his historic visit to Kenya. Kenya and France enjoy a cordial relationship that has helped spur growth in different areas for the benefit of our people.

Even though he did the tweet in English too, the French one elicited different reactions from Kenyans.

We sampled some of your tweets..

Some, in their attempts to write French were not comprehensible.

An example is @patriots_254KE who wrote: Kwang ki ko la mi na ungua bet de la mpappe…. Kwe kante… Kokoko koooo ne Giroud…. Mibhadii inywaa ? ?.
