President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday nominated National Intelligence Service Assistant Director in Counter Terrorism, Hillary Mutyambai, as the new Inspector General (IG) of police.
If approved, Mutyambai will take over from current IG Joseph Boinnet whose 4 year tenure came to an end.
In the executive order from State House, Boinnet will now serve as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) ministry of tourism and wildlife.
President Kenyatta also named Eastern Regional Commissioner Wycliffe Ogallo as the Commissioner General for Prisons, Brigadier Vincent Naisho Loonena as the Director General of Kenya Coast Guard Service and Brigadier John Migui Waweru Director General of Kenya Wildlife Service.
Meanwhile, the new National Police Service Commission is set for swearing in ceremony after which they will name an acting IG.
