A chief and his deputy were on Wednesday suspended following an incident where two minors had passed out due to taking chang’aa.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has further directed that investigations be carried out on Kaprotet village chief and his deputy over negligence.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, Matiang’i issued a stern warning to individuals dealing in production and distribution of illicit brew.

“We will spare no effort or resources in protecting Kenyans from these toxic substances, especially when they affect the lives of our innocent children. We will act firmly and decisively on this matter,” said Matiang’i.

Matiang’i further warned all National Government Administration officers against sleeping on their jobs saying that they will be sacked and brought to account on blunders within their areas of jurisdiction.
