Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has dismissed claims that there’s no fabric to make the new police uniforms.

The CS made it clear that the government is not struggling to make sufficient police uniform and not under any pressure to import the uniform.

This comes after claims of Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet and Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho being spotted at the Rivatex factory in Eldoret trying to get the fabric.

The CS said major local factories had already been commissioned to manufacture the uniform for 65,000 officers and that the government had already paid local manufacturers to produce them.

Matiang’i was speaking on Tuesday after a meeting with stakeholders.
