Two charged in Mombasa court for stealing bitumen worth sh2 million

Mombasa, KENYA: Two men were on Friday charged at the Mombasa Law Courts with stealing 27 tonnes of bitumen worth sh.2 million.

The two, Boniface Mutisya and Peter Mburu, stole the substance, property of Hassa Agencies between 9th and 15th October, 2018, and were on transit from Makupa to Kakuma, Turkana County, before being captured.

Both pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Julius Nang’ea.

One of the accused, Boniface Mutisya, was denied bail due to a pending case at the Milimani law courts in Nairobi where he will be taking plea on Monday.

Meanwhile, the second accused, Peter Mburu, was granted a cash bail of sh.500,000 and a surety bond of sh.1 million.
