Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Mombasa are holding a man for allegedly stabbing his two daughters aged 4 and 6 to death.
According to an eyewitness, James Maina 30 from Mishomoroni Kisauni constituency returned home on Wednesday evening while drunk and lured the girls with mangoes, locked them in his house and stabbed them using a kitchen knife.
Mombasa County Commander Johnston Ipara confirmed the incident saying police have launched investigations and that the man will be arraigned in court after investigations.
“For now the man is being held at Nyali Police station and our officers are on with investigations into the matter and the suspect will be arraigned in court immediately after investigations.” Ipara Said.
The mother of the two children is said to be at work when the incident happened.
A neighbor who sought anonymity, told Baraka FM that the man has been having issues with his wife.
“The man comes home every day drunk leaving the family responsibilities to his wife. The mother leaves the man at home and goes to work to provide for the family.”She said.
The mother of the kids was unreachable on phone.
