Kwale, KENYA: Police in Kwale county have launched investigations into two separate incidents where two bodies were recovered on Sunday night at two different areas.

According to police reports, one body was found at Ronjo village in Samburu, Kinango sub-county while the other was discovered along the shores of the Indian Ocean at Diani, Msambweni sub-county.

Confirming the two incidents, Kwale county commissioner Karuku Ngumo said the body found at Kinango had serious body injuries.

The body found on the shores of Diani beach has been confirmed to be that of a young man identified as Kevin Mutembei who is believed to have drowned while swimming in the ocean.

“Police suspect the body of the 30-year-old man found in Kinango was killed several days ago as it was already decaying by the time it was found,” The county commissioner said.

Police added that the body had serious cut injuries on the head suspecting they might have been inflicted by a sharp object.

No family has so far claimed a missing relative in the areas where the bodies were found.

The two bodies were taken to the mortuary, one at the Kinango referral hospital and the other at The Msambweni referral hospital pending autopsies.
