Nairobi, KENYA: 8,000 title deeds in Kwale county have not been collected.

Speaking before National Assembly Lands committee, Land principal secretary Dr. Nicholas Muraguri said the ministry has already processed 100,000 title deeds in the county.

This comes as the government promises to resolve land disputes witnessed in Kwale county.

“The ministry will avail all resource persons needed, cooperate with leaders and residents in order to solve all problems affecting the Kwale residents in the coastal region”, he said.

Muraguri was responding to Kwale women Rep Zleuikha Hassan who petitioned lands ministry over what she termed teething land problems rocking the county.

Zulekha revealed that unscrupulous people clandestinely process title deeds to own land in the coast while the real landowners are sidelined on the whole issue.

She stated that some of the areas affected by the land menace include Mwache, Shimoni, Mwereni and Samburu.

However, Dr. Muraguri hinted that the problems will be solved in three phases until all pending issues on land in Kwale are ironed out.
